Call for Papers: 3rd FuJo PhD Conference 2026

The Institute for Future Media, Democracy and Society (FuJo) at Dublin City University is pleased to invite submissions for the 3rd FuJo PhD Conference 2026.

The conference provides a platform for PhD researchers from across the island of Ireland to present their research, exchange ideas, and engage in interdisciplinary discussions on the evolving relationship between media, democracy, and society. We welcome contributions from researchers across the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and related disciplines.

Researchers are invited to submit an abstract of up to 300 words, accompanied by a small number of keywords, via the online submission form.

The FuJo PhD Conference aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration among early-career researchers working on contemporary issues in media, democracy, communication, politics, society, and emerging technologies. The conference offers an opportunity to receive feedback on ongoing research, network with fellow researchers, and contribute to discussions on pressing societal challenges.

Muhammad Sayyam Afzal

Muhammad Sayyam Afzal is a PhD research scientist at the School of Communications, Dublin City University (DCU). He is a freelance journalist focusing on climate change and political communication. He has worked on many social and digital media campaigns over the past six years. Recently, he was selected as Ireland’s Climate Ambassador for 2023. In 2022, he was also chosen among 100 emerging journalists through the British Council’s future News worldwide program....
