About

Nereida Carrillo is an assistant professor at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and the head of Learn to Check, an NGO that promotes media and information literacy and critical thinking in Spain. This organization has trained more than 14.000 people in Spain the last six years, including all types of audiences (young, teachers, families, journalists, librarians, old adults, lawyers,etc). Learn to Check collaborates with more than 70 entities and develops education, innovative and social impact projects to counter disinformation. Other activities are the creation of educational resources and academic research. Nereida Carrillo is the author of "Fake Over" (Flamboyant) recently included in the list of White Ravens of the best books for kids and young people and with 14 coming translations. She has also lecture at other universities in Spain: Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and Universitat Rovira i Virgili. As a journalist, she has worked in several media in Spain: cadena SER, diari ARA and the news website of the Catalan public television.
