When we talk about countering disinformation, the conversation often centres on platforms, regulators and policy. But what role do communities themselves play? And how do young people, who navigate this information environment daily, see it?
This summer, Dublin City University brought together Europeans aged 18 to 30 for the ChangingTIDE Media Literacy Incubator, a workshop dedicated to exploring disinformation and the potential of grassroots initiatives to push back against it. Held in Dublin on 30 July 2026, the session created space for participants to share their own perspectives rather than simply absorb expert views.
To capture how those perspectives developed, we surveyed participants both before and after the workshop, asking them to weigh in on questions about the power and limits of community-led responses to transnational disinformation.
