FuJo Joins the First Draft Partner Network

26 January 2017

FuJo has joined the First Draft Partner Network as an academic partner. First Draft is non-profit organization focused on the investigation, verification and ethical handling of social media stories and sources, including eyewitness media and fake stories.

With a core partner of over 100 media and technology partners, the First Draft Partner Network was launched in September 2016. Founding members include Eyewitness Media Hub, Google News Lab, and Storyful. The network is now expanding to include academic partners to further collaboration on issues of trust and truth in the digital age.

"At the time of our launch, issues of trust and truth in news were a growing concern, but even we did not predict the rapid escalation in debate that has dominated industry headlines in recent weeks. This sense of urgency to tackle challenges has cemented our focus and confirmed that working together has never been more important. ... The goal of the partner network is to help raise knowledge and standards, agree to possible solutions, put them into practice and share learnings and recommendations." Claire Wardle, Strategy and Research Leader, First Draft

As partners, FuJo will collaborate on network projects, policies, and recommendations; contribute to network summits; and gain access training tools and resources including training from the global Verification Training Corps.
