FuJo at 10: Investigative Journalism and Democracy in Focus

09 September 2025

For the past decade, the FuJo Institute at DCU has explored how evolving technologies, shifting news practices, and changing audience engagement continue to shape democratic life. As we mark our 10-year milestone, we turn to one of the most pressing questions facing the media today: where does investigative journalism find support and funding in an era dominated by endless news commentary?

To reflect on this, we’re proud to announce a special anniversary event on Friday, September 19th, from 10AM to 12PM, bringing together leading voices in investigative journalism at the international, national, and local levels. This includes a keynote address by Malachy Browne (The New York Times) and panel discussions with Maria Delaney (The Journal Investigates) and Lois Kapila (Dublin Inquirer).

This event will explore how investigative journalists continue to deliver impactful stories, and the challenges and opportunities they face in today’s media landscape. We’d love for you to join us in marking this important milestone and conversation. Please sign in here.
