Irene is a post-doctoral researcher on the ReMeD: Resilient Media for Democracy in the Digital Age project. She holds a PhD from Dublin City University. Her research explored the role of human-centred design for audience engagement in legacy newspapers and the implications for journalism. She has worked as a journalist for over a decade in Greece, covering international news with a focus on European and US politics and elections, the economy, the refugee crisis, terrorist attacks, and society. Her articles have appeared both in print and online, and she has interviewed numerous politicians, economists, academics, analysts, and other experts. She has worked briefly in public relations and as a freelance journalist in Ireland. She holds a BA in Political Science and History from Panteion University, an MSc in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Panteion University, and an MSc in Public Relations and Strategic Communications from Dublin City University. Her PhD research received funding from the Irish Research Council.
