The Slándáil National Security Summit Ireland took place in Dublin on February 25th and 26th.
Dr Eileen Culloty participated in the panel ‘Democracy in the Digital Disinformation Age: Mapping the Threat Landscape’. The panel discussion followed a keynote by Monika Richter from the East Stratcom Task Force on disinformation and proactive communication of European Union policies. Other panelists included Andy Scollick, an independent security consultant; Enda O’Coineen, CEO Kilcullen Kapital; and James Lawless, TD and Fianna Fail spokesperson on science and technology.
An honour to have been on the @Slandail_NSSI panel discussing 'Democracy in the Digital Disinformation Age: Mapping the Threat Landscape' alongside @mlrchtr who delivered the keynote, @lawlessj, @CullotyEileen, @EOCoineen and @SarahAMcInerney who moderated https://t.co/wLEJZsdU9u— Andy Scollick (@Andy_Scollick) February 29, 2020
Interesting comments from @lawlessj on the #GE2020 – particularly the mention of the @FairPlayPledge continuing after the election as a mechanism to hold parties to account on online actions #slandail— Laura Bartley (@Laura_FBartley) February 26, 2020
Additionally, thoughtful & pertinent comments by @CullotyEileen on how little research has been carried on on what are effective forms of countering disinformation (and that there needs to be increased focus on audience receptivity and a bigger picture approach) #slandail— Laura Bartley (@Laura_FBartley) February 26, 2020
