On May 4, Maynooth University is hosting a panel session for the Around the World Conference on the theme “Digital Media in a Post-Truth Era”. The conference, organized by the Kule Institute for Advanced Study at the University of Alberta, is an experiment that brings together a research dialogue without the environmental cost of traditional conferences. The event will be live streamed from various locations including Maynooth University, Western Sydney University, Texas A&M University, Université de Montréal, UC Irvine, Fordham University, Haifa University, University of Malta, and the University of Alberta.
The Maynooth University session will commence at 2:30 with a panel including:
- Dr Gavan Titley, senior lecturer and head of department of media studies at Maynooth
- Dr Jane Suiter, Director of the institute for Future Media and Journalism at DCU,
- Ms Andrea Martin, Executive Director of MediaforBuyers and partner at MediaLawyer solicitors,
- Mr Peter Mcguire, news and features journalist for the Irish Times and Huffington Post,
- Prof Chris Brunsdon, Professor of Geocomputation, and Director of the National Centre for Geocomputation at Maynooth University
