FuJo is partnering with the Global Editors Network to host a competitive hackathon in DCU on November 25th and 26th. Supported by Google News Lab, the hackathon will bring together teams from Irish and British newsrooms to develop new prototypes for sports journalism.
The prototype could be an app, new website feature, interactive visualisation, game, or widget. Teams will pitch their prototypes to a jury with the winner going forward to the Global Editors Network final in June 2017 in Vienna.
Send a Team: Newsrooms can send a three-person team which should include a journalist, a developer, and a designer. They will be expected to build a working prototype of a news product or service during the event. No previous work or preparation is needed. Catering will be provided and the event will also include a workshop on digital journalism tools and a guest speaker on sports journalism.
