On July 7th, Eileen Culloty spoke at the Digital Engagement and Media Literacy Workshop organised by Facebook EU Affairs’ Digital Citizenship Group. The Digital Citizenship Group aims to contribute to the reflection towards a future in which empowered digital citizens can fully reap the benefits of digitalisation by safely and meaningfully participating in the digital society. Members include EU academics, think tanks, civil society associations, and Facebook EU Affairs.
The Digital Engagement and Media Literacy workshop examined media literacy needs in the context of disinformation. Panelists discussed ways to help people evaluate content, develop critical thinking skills, and longer term challenges for citizenship in the digital age.
